Hey guys,
Have to get the windscreen replaced due to a crack.
Can someone tell me did the 2005 model have a slight tint to it?
Thanks
-
It did, slightly blue.

Just had mine replaced and the dealership glass has a green tint in it, they turned up with blue and had to swap it.

Green tint is the later models.
Part of a cost reduction measure by VW.

Cheers,
Thought it was blue aright, auto glass telling me that it is green....
The rest of the car has the blue tint for sure.

Managed to speak with someone who has a clue this morning in Auto Glass, they have no blue tinted ones in stock in Ireland and would have to get one in from the dealer. I think my quote of €152 is about to go up a whole lot!! :scared:

I'm with liberty insurance and my windscreen cracked on the motorway a while back.
Called my insurance company up and stated I wanted factory spec windscreen, blue one was replaced a few days later.
Hold off for the proper one.
Why are you going direct autoglass? Usually your insurance policy has windscreen cover with no affect on NCB.

Ah apparently I never asked for glass cover with 123 on TPFT when I signed up, my fault really!
€220 fitted from asapwindscreens for the blue there Luke

Had to go NCT with the crack and it failed on it obviously, have until the 8th June to get a new one in and it will pass NCT just by showing them a new one is fitted.
So the pressure is on to get one in the next week!

Unfortunate not to cover windscreen but you live and you learn.
Don't cheap out, you'll notice it more when it rains that the windscreen is a different colour.
Don't go breakers either. Get the new one, pay the €220 and chalk it up to a learning experience to pay the extra €30 for windscreen cover :phew:
