Title: Edition 30 tuning
Post by: Black9 on June 02, 2017, 04:32:04 am
Considering another ED30, looking to do some mods as well..

Bilstein B12 kit, had this on my old Ed30 and I'm sure I purchased it from German eBay but the description was in English and now I can't find it..

Front / rear ARB's. Prev has VWR but I think the likes of H&R are just as good, any other recommendations?

Bushes, WALK, polybushed front Lower balljoints and engine mount? Are S3 wishbones and aftermarket lower ball joints worth the ££

Remap, initially stage 1 but for stage 2+ do I need an intake, intercooler, HPFP, TBE? What company, APR, Revo, R tech?

Brakes, front BBK, is Porsche the most cost effective way to go? Do I need rears? Can I run stock peacaras with BBK

Seats, how much would I pay for a set of Recaro wing backs brand new? Circa £2000 per seat?

All of that discussed in detail many times over in the modifications / performance sub forums but.....

S3 wishbones.....don't pay the scene tax.  Buy Passat B6 ones instead, they are identical.   Worth it?  On their own, no.  Alongside the S3/Passat alloy Hubs, yes, you do notice the drop in un-sprung weight on bumpy corners.  SuperPro BJs if you want camber, Passat B6 ones if you don't.

One caveat with the Alloy hubs is some aftermarket BBKs may not fit, but obviously S3 brakes should fit as the Passat/S3 hubs are the same.

Mapping - the usual suspects.  Take your pick.   You do need a HPFP for stage 2+ level of tune, and a 3" downpipe is essential too otherwise you get too much exhaust reversion causing high EGTs, and the ECU will get grumpy.  Intakes, catbacks, intercoolers not essential, but aid higher peak numbers.   Personally I would upgrade to the S3/6R intercooler and a muffler delete (forge is best) to get rid of all the stupid bayonet connections.

Good price but appears to be for the non-GTI models?
