Title: Paint Protection
Post by: DanED30GTI on June 04, 2017, 08:32:48 am
Close to putting a deposit down on a used white mk7 GTD and one of the optional extras the stealers tried to sell me was Gard-X paint protection. Price was roughly 350 from what I remember. Can anyone recommend this? Or are there better and cheaper alternatives out there?

Christ no, save the money and get your car to a proper detailer who can prep the paint properly and then apply some protection that will last.

Other dealers might offer the Williams coatings as an alternative..... don't waste your money on that one either. Get it done properly by people who do this for a living.

That's what I was thinking tbh. Sure the price of a good detail would be similar to the VW price and the level of quality would likely be world's apart.

Yeah, exactly. Might as well get a decent job done for the money. Something like a protection detail or minor enhancement will be a similar price and give you much better results and some proper protection. Lots of detailers listed on detailing world etc so should be easy to find a reputable place near you.

Never even thought to check on detailing world  :stupid: haha.

I'm based in Durham but I'm willing to travel anywhere in the north to the Midlands if it's highly recommended  :happy2:
