Title: 12V Accessory Wire - Connects2 Bluetooth
Post by: Mark_DF05 on June 16, 2017, 03:55:06 pm
I've purchased a Connects2 bluetooth device for streaming music which I intend to hook up to my RCD510. As well as the aux connector there's also a red and black wire. The black needs to be grounded which is easy enough but I'm not entirely sure about the red. It needs to be connected to a 12V accessory...

Am I correct in thinking I can add a circuit to the cig lighter fuse or is there a better way? Are there any empty slots that don't work when the key isn't in the ignition?

My cig light is permanent live so check if yours is before you try and get behind it you should have a acc live on the radio plug somewhere and it makes sense to have it coming on and off with the radio

There is no acc live on the radio this is a modern car which uses the can network to turn on the stereo.

you already have the right idea with the lighter socket if as stated its not on permanently like early golfs.

last thing is the fuse box at the end of the dash has a few slots that come on with ignition, test the open fuse holders to find one that's ignition switched then follow this

Cheers guys, it seems the cighter is permanent so can't use that. I'll have look and see if any entity slots can be used, if not I'll have to try the method above.
