Title: Wotbox yes or no?
Post by: killarag on June 20, 2017, 12:33:29 pm
Hi Guys.

Looking into these wotboxes to get a rev limiter and the no-lift-shift.

I know some remap companies offer the rev limiter as part of their map, however I have only just had mine mapped with Revo.

I have heard a lot of bad press about the wotbox in regards to blownup engines, people mentioning about bent con rods and other such stuff.

I was wondering if anyone has first hand experience using a wotbox and if the above is true?

Cheers,
Knowlzy!

Plenty of horror stories at the end of a google search. First example I found: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=314523

Its entirely not needed and only good for showing off at the risk of a £1000+ engine

Over-run explosions, flat shifting, poor man's anti-lag, 7000rpm+ rev limits.......it's all bad for the engine.   Thanks to VAG's nature of over building things, the engine won't grenade itself immediately....but it will....eventually.

Depending on how good or bad the flat shift torque cut is mapped, you could end up mashing the gearbox to pieces as well.
