Title: GTI Side skirts / Bodykit
Post by: Trav Turbo on July 04, 2017, 10:16:01 am
Hello all I'm looking to colour code my Gti bodykit soon along with my Edition 30 splitters. How do the side skirts remove from the car, are they clipped on or bonded on?

Cheers.

Can recall this being covered before, so a search should reveal all. Think they're held on with adhesive pads and you'll need some kind of 'cheese cutter wire thingy' to remove them.

Yeah bonded on with sikoflex type urethane glue.  Most online bodyshop suppliers or amazon sell cheesewire tools.

On a slightly related topic.....can anyone recommend some good sticky foam pad tape for number plates, please?

My front one fell off a couple of Sundays ago (35 degrees) at an American Car Club event at Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire (Brother in law got a '56 Dodge Fargo, imported from South Africa, that won Best Truck - he was well happy, but my plate got ran over on the track in / out of the field, Doh.....) Got to get another made up, and stuck on properly. Any suggestions, chaps (not screws!)

I used Halfords tape.  Nice and thin and strong.  It's held my metal plates from the dealer on no probs, inc the mini heatwave!
