Sold my old phone to someone on gumtree. Used it a few days ago and wifi worked fine. Got a call today after I sold it saying the wifi has a poor connection and he needs to be close to the router for wifi to work.. he stays in student accom so not sure how far his room is from router, but he says all his other devices work fine.
Any one know what the issue could be? Seems like a common issue from a quick google search and some people say it could be a wifi antenna issue and possibly need replaced..

Factory reset the phone and try again?

I'll mention that. IPhones have a tendency to not work if too far from router in older buildings with thick walls. Maybe he expects too much

Happened to me before, a software update fixed it also my contract (EE) wasn't the best either.

Caveat emptor - why are people even contacting the seller after the sale of second hand goods?!! If they want guarantees and aftersales service, they should buy new.
Anyway, your buyer will be reassured to know that iPhone 7s are equally shat with Wi-Fi. I have to "reset network settings" weekly.
