Title: RCD 310

Just won a RCD 310 on the old eBay for £18!! I know it doesn't have the best features but it's definitely better than the broken standard unit I have  

I've got two questions about this, do I need to get an upgraded canbus gateway to stop battery drain? Also where can I get a code for the radio, seen on eBay I can get this for  £10 but wondered whether I can get this free from VW? (Wishful thinking)

You can get the code from VW for free give them the code that begins with VW** i think it is, and some 07 on cars have an upgraded canbus already best way is to check with vcds or take out the canbus and get the part number to see.

(also you can add an aux to the rcd310 easily)

I've got a 06 gti so think I will need to replace the canbus
Ordered the Aux input aswell, got for £4 on ebay so can't complain!

Couldn't tell you if the Aux is any good, planning to fit it all this weekend so fingers crossed all goes well
