Title: Pirelli's first service
Post by: pirelli@40! on February 05, 2010, 02:05:26 pm: Folks.....have seen quite a few postings regarding servicing costs which explain the differences between the various types (which i kinda understand...i think). However just had my local VAG dealer (Basingstoke) quote me Â£230 for the first service (10,500k). Thought this sounded a bit steep so wanted to get opinions from folks in the know! Also, does the type of service regime influence the price (and apologies if that sounds like a niave question!). Thanks.

Post by: ady-gti on February 05, 2010, 02:12:58 pm: I always tell my VW garage to do a variable service as it's allot easier than trying to explain I want a time and distance service but with longlife oil, then I just book it in every year..

That being said, the basic service with longlife oil is aprrox Â£140. I even think that is a bit expensive and would consider anything over Â£200 to be extortionate.

IIRC my T&D service last July (#3) was about Â£135, using LL oil.

Though to be fair i didn't really haggle or tell them what type of service i wanted. Having said that, the cheeky sods took my mobile number to 'confirm the price' then sent me a text 4 hours later telling me my golf was due it's first service! No sh*t Sherlock!!!

Will now phone around and see what's occuring.
