How do you remove plastic on the inside of the boot lid?
As am wanting to change the rear VW badge i have removed the to little screws that are in the handles but cant seem to budge the plastic?
Any help would be great thanks.

Gotta be brave and pull im afraid, once the two screws are out it is only held with rather strong metal clips! :happy2:
-
There are about 15 in there. I snapped off about 4 when I changed mine, doesn't matter, just as long as you take them out before putting the lid back on, else you get a nice rattling noise. Just pull very hard, It won't snap. :happy2:

Tug and pray..
Seriously one the screws in the grap handles are out, it's only held in my clips, but they are bloody stiff. I pulled a little too hard when I removed mine, and slightly cracked the plastic - so beware !

Is it best to pull from bottom or top first?
How does it fit back on?

The same way you take it off. Just push it and the clips will spring back into place holding it once more. I would try and do it all in one go, as its not much fun taking it all off again!

i can confirm that you have to pull and pull and pull LOL

Going to have a go at weekend so will keep you posted on how it goes.
Have posted a question about handsfree aswell if anyone could give me any advice.

As said by someone else just be brave and pull very very hard!! They are a bugger to get off but once you get one clip out its plain sailing from there lol

Yep take screws out and pull. Be careful thought as I snapped mine! :ashamed: (4th time taking it off!)

Quick tip......Remove the bulb access covers to give you better purchase when pulling the trim off. The plastic seems a little tougher round there too. Once you hear a clip pop, then chase the trim around the edge and you can pop most of them one by one. The centre ones should then come out much easier. :happy2:

Just what I was going to do.
Got the bottom bit off but gave up as it wasn't budging at all. Though with it being so cold I would probably snap something...
I will give it another go in a week or too or if I can get into a warm garage.

The steps are:
1) Unscrew all the screws,
2) Pull like a madman until the whole thing eventually gives in and snaps off,
3) Go to VW and buy a new panel

They're dirt cheap to replace. Mine got a little damaged after some continual removal. If you ever do need to order a new one, don't order the 12 clips as it comes with them.

Interesting - how much, and is it a standard grey for all Golf or is the GTI different?
