OMG why is it so hard to purchase a new outer boot badge handle cover for my Golf?
It's the 110mm badge which is curved on the back and not flat. Every time you find one it has a flat back which seams to be the norm on Ebay. I don't want to change the whole unit as it work, I don't have the skill to change the whole unit and it's just the front plate I want to fit. So you would think you could get a new replacement badge?
I can't find any suitable replacement covers or original ones's without the horrible corrosion. The front badge on mine mk5 is matt black so I was going to get a new chrome back and replace the front in chrome but have decided to change the back badge to a matt black to match.
But I can't find any thing to match. I have tried eBay, amazon and google with out any luck. Does anybody know of any retailers that sell them?
I could buy a similar chrome one in better condition and sand it down and paint it matt black but will it look nice as I think I will loose the logo as the badge doesn't have that 3d look, will it just look like a black circle on the back by the time the work is done?
What about other vw vehicles do there badges fit?
I would prefer a 3d one any links to anything?

Matt mk6, they fit on the mk5, just need to break the small tabs off and keep the bigger tab on the back of the badge, bit of double sided tape and job done

I really want a full badge like this but in either matt black or silver:

The "VW" logo and back bit are 2 pieces, logo clips onto it. Pry your logo off and clip new one onto your existing back bit.
If not, paint it mate.

If I pry the original one off and use the one above which you have mentioned then I will have to fill in a hole and rub and prime down the underneath of the whole handle, something I don't think I could pull off with a professional finish.
But thanks for your feedback. Still looking
