Post by: Nemo on August 05, 2017, 08:12:42 am
Hello again. Can anyone recommend me an independent GTI specialist in the Nottingham area please?

C&R Enterprises are in Nottingham, or if you're prepared travel a little further afield, AKS Tuning in Bedfordshire or Stealth Racing in Southam.  All 3 know their onions, but the latter 2 are more oniony than C&R.  Having said that, Steve Creswell at C&R (the C of C&R) has been fiddling with VWs for eons and knows them like the back of his hand.

I've heard bad reviews about C&R from a couple of people.

Allumy motorsport is just off the a52 behind bramcote hills park

Thanks for the replies. Basically I know nothing about these cars having been a Ford man all my life. I'm looking for a place that can keep up with the service schedule that isn't just a generic service station. I'm a little disappointed with the main dealer in Nottingham (vertu). An enthusiast that wants to keep the car going not just empty my wallet

If you're willing to travel north, I 100% recommend Statller Power Developments in Sheffield.

AKS Tuning is an obvious one, but is a decent trek from Nottingham for you.

A much closer recommendation I would suggest is GRM Northampton.

They're up Attercliffe road. You might be faced with a few weeks waiting list, but that's the case with all the best places, just like AKS!

Yeah I did a quick google of them. They look like they deal with some serious motors. I'm looking for more of a service garage than a tuner. Ill give them a call and see what they say. I'm going to change the dv this week as I've never thought it felt like a 200 bhp car. Where can I get a rev G from?

They've serviced my car for the last couple of years, and will continue to do so for as long as I own it. Honestly, having been into VWs and Audis for the last 15 or so years, they're the one place out of quite a few I've used that I completely trust. That includes VW themselves, and some other apparently respected specialists.

Yes, they do build some monsters, and maybe that's what they're most known for, but they don't shy away from older stuff like our mk5s, whether it's bone standard or anything else.

I'm lucky in that Steve and co are only a 30 minute drive away, but I'd happily do the trip if it was more - like Mike does with AKS.

As for the rev G, I heard that VW had stopped selling them a few months ago, but I'm not sure how much truth there is in that. If you do a quick search for the part number and give your closest VW dealer a ring you'll find out!
