Title: Standard GTI Mk5 what size discs?
Post by: Chris_R on August 31, 2017, 04:52:10 pm
Was just looking to buy discs and pads all round but there seems to be about 4 parts for front and 3 for rear all varying sizes with only a couple of mm between them in some cases.
My car is a standard GTI - not R or ED30 - so which ones should I be buying, never seen such a range of size options for a single car before...
I don't really fancy taking all the calipers off and disks off so that I can get mm perfect measurements.

Front options - 288MM, 280MM, 312MM, 345MM
Rear options - 260MM, 255MM, 286MM

Putting a measure across the front of the wheel and trying to eyeball it I put the rears in the range 260mm to 270mm but that could easily be 255mm based on not getting it completely flat.
Fronts came in at 280 to 290mm again though hard to get a mm perfect when you are that distance from the discs.

Don't worry, figured out they are in the handbook PR Codes. ;)

Looks like my current fronts are smaller than they should be too.

Now to try and find some discs and pads. Huge amount of choice for this motor
