Hi guys,
I'm going to view a black Pirelli edition at the weekend and wondered if any previous owners were on here, or if anyone knows anything about this car and its history?
Reg CA08 GFG.
I've checked the mot history and there are a few fails in there for the cv gaiter and another couple of minor things.
Not sure if I should let this put me off but want to find out as much info as I can.
Thanks in advance.
Charlie.

Tyres and CV boots a constant theme there! Perhaps a sign it's had a hard life? Only a visual inspection can confirm that. Just go with your gut instinct on the condition. If it seems off, walk away, and buy the lovely silver one on here.

CV boot shouldnt put you off if the rest of the car is good. They fail on every and all cars. It is just a rubber boot that holds the grease in. It used to be an MOT fail but is not anymore and goes down as an advisory.
Saying that, Puddings reference to the silver pirelli for sale on here is a good shout. I have seen it in detail in the flesh at a show and it is a supreme car!

Thanks for the replies - I know the gaiter isn't a major thing but it looks.like it was an advisory for 2 years before actually being fixed.
I know when I have a car I take car of all niggles and keep it in good order.
Will take a look at the silver one, thanks!

Exactly. Many warnings about CV boots and tyres. Maybe the owner(s) was tight, which doesn't bode well for the rest of the car's upkeep.
Get FlashP's Silver on one here. Without doubt one of the best. Worth paying the extra for for fewer issues down the line.

I went and had a look and was v disappointed.
Under the bonnet the car was filthy, and noisey.
A strange rattle on start up (almost diesel like) and a few annoying knocks.
Would have thought the dealer might have spent just 5 mins giving it a clean. Listings of oil in places and just didn't feel right.
The silver one looks lovely on here but out of my price range (budget of £8,500).
Again thanks for your help. This forum is brilliant for info. My search continues :)

If you aren't having any luck on the Pirelli you could try the Edition 30, just cosmetic differences eg the seats but would open up the search for you.

If you're new to GTIs, they do sound horrible when running, but I suspect this car has not been treated like it deserved to be.
The silver one on here is superb. Still a lot upgrades on it so perhaps get in touch with him and negotiate?
Or as above, the Edition 30 is the same spec car, bar the interior and wheels, although many Edition 30s have been tuned to death and abused, so again, you'll be needing the thick end of £9K for a good looked after one.
