Hi all can someone help me find a front pair of roll bar brackets as the ones I've got have snapped capture nuts and now the brackets bent because it's come loose some how!!!
-
Not sure where to get them from, im still on the lookout for the eibach ones as I managed to shear the head of the bolt. If its any help, I removed the captive nut with a hacksaw and just used a nut and bolt and its held up fine so far. Really hoping i dont have to buy a whole new kit! I know some brands do sell the brackets seperately... Powerflex i think for example. Do HnR use the OEM bracket or provide their own?
-
Hi man, looks like you're in the same or similar predicament as I am?.
H&R provide their own brackets as the oem ones are definitely different and again not sure if they sell these separately :sad1:
Alex says they cannot be purchased separately so that's a downer if it's true and he most likely knows better than us as he's a trader and specialist.
Thanks for your reply and hope you can get the same as I.
My captive nuts were already snapped off when I bought the set up off a member but for some reason!! Now one loosened itself off and bent the bracket!!! Got my mate at his garage to bang a nut on it but weirdly enough he lost the other captive nut so now there's two normal washer nuts holding the one side together!!! :slap: don't know why people do that when I wanted the one nut fitted :signLOL: still making a slight knocking noise and I don't want it to bent again F**

Alex is definitely right - I rang TPS when I broke the bolt asking for a new one, and they told me the bolt only comes with the whole OEM bar. So untill I decide to buy an OEM bar I am stuck with the nut and bolt I have used. I havent had any movement etc (touch wood) with the nut and bolt, but I wont be going on track with it. Ill replace it with the oem bracket at some point, but its low on my priority as it appears to be doing the job well.

Out of interest what size arbs you lot running.

I have oem brackets which I will need to have another look at as I'm sure they're smaller than the H&R's when I first looked at them. hopefully you'll be fine as you've had no trouble with them.

I will have to measure mine today as I keep forgetting to check

I'm running 28/24 set to soft soft I think set up by Alex at aks.
Was doing some research and keep reading 26mm on front would be better on road even set to hard.
Will still be less stiff then 28 set to soft.
-
I have 26 soft / 22 hard (with the vwr suspension) and find it gives around the right balance for road use.
-
What bars you using.
When researching I've found 24 is perfect for rear but 28 on front is more track oriented.
Also was wondering how much stiffer this would make the ride.
-
I use H&R. You can find some tensile strength numbers in the link below and extrapolate accordingly for 26/22. Fwiw whitejames's reviews are worth googling

okay just measured mine and they're 28 and 24mm brackets are oem vag brackets and mine are set to medium setting front and rear and doesn't seem harsh on the road
@peskyjones oem brackets bud :happy2:

Thought as much. Like my eibachs.
-
Maybe not much of difference then on road quality thanks for the info.
Is the outer hole soft inner hole stiff.

Yeah looks like mine. Did you have to square an edge of the washer like I did mine
-
Checking the photo again I can see you didnt.
-
It's not a washer but built in to the nut.
