Title: MK5 Golf GTI Driveshaft - Manual or DSG?
Post by: Tommyc on September 18, 2017, 09:27:12 pm
Hi all,

Bought a set of new drive shafts from these guys - http://www.jandrcvjoints.co.uk/volkswagen-golf-2.0-petrol-2008/product/drive-shafts-509/drive-shaft/DS461

When they came to be fitted, the garage told me that they are the wrong parts (vehicle is DSG). Can't post photos right now, but I would be really grateful if someone could advise how the parts differ (I always assumed that the fitting to the gearbox is different) - but visually, one part has a sort of star shaped face to it, and one is perfectly round. I have been sold the star shaped variety, which I'm told is the wrong one.

Any help much appreciated!!

Thanks all, and will post photos as soon as I can,

Tom

Hi all,

Couple of photos:

This is the part which was sold as DSG:

And the existing part on the vehicle (gti DSG)

Can anyone shed any light on which part I should be buying? Is there a difference between manual and auto driveshafts other than this?

Cheers, Tom

I'd return that and get oem. More money but peace of mind
