Title: Best people to sell a car to?
Post by: Chris92 on October 04, 2017, 08:17:40 pm
Looking for any other alternatives to 'we buy any car' that people know of who I can check out for the best price of my car? Need it gone, can't shift it private. Thanks

Bring the price down slightly and eBay it, cut your losses?

I once sold my first car, Fiat Punto 1.1sx, on eBay that wasn't even roadworthy for around £400 (listed as no MOT/for spares or salvage etc...) and even in working order it can't have been worth much more (back in 2006) than £500 at the time!

I personally can't stand the "we'll buy any vehicle" type of companies. They will always adjust their valuation offer to be minus 30-35% of the cars actual market value because that's where their margin is inherited on every car. It's pretty easy money for not much work and they're pulling the sellers' pants down at the end of the day...

Already tried ebay many of times now, couldn't even shift it for £11k! Plenty of dreamers plus dodgy people but nothing serious  :rolleye: this was a couple of months ago now and was just going to bang it in part ex but there's nothing on to my spec yet so getting sick of running it etc now so want it gone.

When I've tried them in the past, the price is pretty much the same across the main ones... And you can bet that when it comes to the actual sale, the price they give you will be even lower as they'll find a dozen reasons to knock the price down even further. I'd be very surprised if you cant shift it privately for more than what these firms will offer

What model of car you trying to sell, as that would decide my choice of advice I could give.

I've had it on ebay atleast 4/5 times now and it's still here so not even going to try ebay again, each time I knocked it down and had it listed as make me a offer but no luck. Just booked a appointment at we buy any car for Sunday. No dowt they'll knock it down more but it's only 30 mins away so it's worth a try. Currently been offered a lot more than the 11k I was asking on my final attemp on ebay (after knocking 1000s off previously) so I'd be happy with anything over that tbh, see what happens.

It's been sold now finally  :happy2: bought a little bargain alto today to use in the mean time while I search for another mk6 R. Really makes you appreciate just how good the golf is in every way from the power, handling, build quality. The lists goes on. Plus sides its 30 quid a year to tax and runs on fresh air  :drinking:

Why did you sell a Mk6 R to look for another Mk6 R?

Want a higher spec one, mine had cloth seats no cruise no nothing. Think the only options on were the touch screen and the 19" alloys. Hoping for a different colour too and a 3door but if the right car comes up il take the same colour and another 5 door. Just hard to be too picky as you don't dont have many options on the 6R as there just isn't many For sale or even on the road to start with. Wasn't happy with some of the body work either which I never noticed when I bought it.

I used "Sellcar" to sell my mini countryman. Had a shocking experience and would never use again. Some oldbird that looked like aunt Bessie turned up and tried to tell me it needed 3 wheels refurbing plus other nonsence. Little did she know, 2 had been refurbed 3 days previously! Clown! Bessie was shown the door!
Stick to Yorkshire puddings love!

Lease deals are the biggest problem to selling cars privately that are £10000 plus.

Agree, I hate trying to sell high valued cars as I just can't shift them privately and if you do manage it takes far far too long. Not many people have that cash sitting in their bank, all on finance from garages.
