Hi Guys need some help here
I got my local Machanic to do a cam belt service, belts, water pump, tensioner etc. Also had him replace the oil cooler which was faulty. After the service the vehicle is holding back power, bogging, sometimes stalling and a backfire. Any idea where to start looking? It's a golf 5 gti Dsg 2005

My initial thought I that if it worked OK when it went to the mechanic, then it should be returned to them to resolve the issue.
It sounds like the timing is out by a tooth when fitting the timing belt.
The easiest way would be to perform some live data logging in VCDS, the actual values to measure escape me at the moment, but I'm sure someone will be along soon to point you in the right direction. If the timing belt is a tooth out, then judging by the TFSI FB page, this happens every so often. The biggest issue is getting the mechanic to agree and fix it as they always swear blind that it cannot be the case.
Otherwise check all your pipes, hoses and other connections are all good. Any vacuum leaks?

True that is my issue, car was driving fine before he touched it. He has tried checking it out and seems is at his wits end. I suggested to him that timing might be out and he argues that it would have shown camshaft position sensor error code if this was the case however he reckons it's pulling up error codes turbo related as well as fuel pressure. I check the hpfp and see there is a hairline crack, I have replaced the sensor but still bogging and randomly cutting out.
I haven't check for vacuum leaks yet

Timing out ?
-
Mechanic refuses it's timing that's out, although I'm starting to think it is out, sometimes it stalls and refuses to start then eventually starts but jerks when you accelerate

Do you've have vcds?
You can check if the timing is out using it.

The only fault codes being pulled are fuel pressure related
-
Is that with vcds? What are the codes?

Measuring block 091 in VCDS. Should be in the 0KW to -3KW range. Get that channel checked and report back.
Channel 93 should also show actual and requested at 28KW, plus/minus 0.5KW.

Thanks guys, will pull codes this weekend and get back to you.
