Title: Headlights and wheel bolts
Post by: jacobrownoly on October 09, 2017, 06:56:47 pm
Hi, Looking for some advice on some new bits for the car Mk5 gti.

Headlights - The front headlights are dull and yellow and could do with a replacement, any one got any recommendations/links to an upgrade without breaking the bank.

Wheel bolts - I have gun metal team dynamics pro alloys on the car looking again to get black bolts instead of standard. Anyone have link to the correct measurements with the colour black.

Thanks very much!

Thought about just refurbing the headlights?

My nephews golf + wet and dry + polish with a DA polisher...

+1 with refurbishing the headlights, grab a power drill and purchase the £20 3M kit from eBay.

I went down this route with my old Bora & recently my old Accord, well worth the money & the 30 minutes or so that you carefully put into each headlamp. Though if you've never carried it out before you may want to remove the headlamps beforehand if you really cherish your paint work or fear you may mark your paint (did this a couple of times with both cars, easily done if you slip or work too hard on it like I did!).

The results are like night and day, my old Bora headlamps were absolutely horrendous beforehand and absolutely transformed the look of the car afterwards.

Liam.

Bolt caps maybe? I got em for a few quid off the bay, went for gloss black to match my wheels

For black bolts, I'm sure you can find lots on eBay.

M14x1.5, 27mm I believe (unless you have spacers), and most aftermarket wheels take a tapered seat (as opposed to radius seat for OEM wheels).

Correct. Team Dynamcs take a tapered bolt.

Or just paint them black or put some caps on. They all go rusty in time anyway.
