Title: 02Q single mass conversion
Post by: eb198 on October 29, 2017, 09:16:51 am
Hi guys,

Any threads or recommendations on SMF conversions? My dual mass has gone and want to change to a lightweight SMF and clutch set up

regards

ive just gone smf and its great, the smf is so much lighter than the dmf which is really noticeable in how it picks up
My dmf weighed in at 12.5kg im guessing smf was 3-4 max
There is a bit of chatter at idle and when letting off but not noticeable unless car is silent.
mine is not my daily though

Thanks for the response,
what kit did you go for out of curiosity?

not jerky on engagement or anything

Any clattering noises from the gearbox at idle when hot?  It's what puts me off SMF conversions.

There is some chatter noise but hardly noticeable. depends on how you feel about it, doesn't bother me as i only drive for pleasure and not daily. that said i've used it for work in rush hour traffic and was hardly noticeable. that's with uprated mounts etc

if its a daily or you get wound up by noises may be best to go for more OEM DMF
