On cold start up my car struggles to fire up followed by a smell of fuel, then on the second attempt starts perfectly and smell of fuel subsides! Answers on a post card please all?

Why would the fuel filter cause this to happen?fuel filter can cause poor starting due to being filthy. Plenty of other issues can cause the same but simple things first

You may want to check the pollen filter has really been changed as my local VW dealer only pretended to have done so.....
Must have a better vw dealer in West Sussex as yes it’s a nice clean new pollen filter fitted!

I did. Fairly dirty looking but no particles in it which assures me the quality of the fuel I was putting in.

Problem resolved but got a bit carried away and I ended up replacing the 6.6 bar fuel filter + R8 coil packs + pcv revision R + dv revision G and the car runs like a dream
I see no harm here. All good maintenance work :happy2:

My guess is coil packs as they where the original items and they normally fail after a map is installed so start up is now straight away and no fuel smells, so I’m happycoolio :happy2:

I have the R8 coil packs on my stage 2+ and made sure everything was done before mapping so there are no issues if you catch my drift :smiley:

Hadn’t been a problem over the last 7/8 months but my Moto is always upgrade anything that fails if I haven’t done it already

Shame some low life off here took my spare plugs and coil packs f in scum still hasn't had the decency to send them back either.
Gave him my spare dv pipe, dog mount power flex insert and other bits FOC but that's how low life people are!! Take take take
