Title: Finding Correct Battery Size
Post by: alexgolfer on November 01, 2017, 11:39:12 am
There is literally no useful information on the physical battery in my car thats died to find out what to replace it with. Online in every car battery site it lists two possible battery capacities / CCA's i have a 2004 Golf MK5 1.4 FSI

Bosch S4 Battery (S4 Battery 012 4 Year Guarantee) - 52ah - 420 CCA
Bosch S4 Battery (S4 Battery 027 4 Year Guarantee) - 60ah - 540 CCA

Does anyone know how i actually find out which is the correct for my car !? About 2 hours googling and i still still stumped

I dont know if there are any downsides to just picking the bigger one, i do do lots of short trips so worry is if i pick a bigger one thats not needed it wont have time to charge up properly and i dont have garage to keep it topped up

Thanks. Alex

Hi Alex, I recommend the 60ah 540cca cold cranking amp one, oh actually the 56ah will do the job as your car is a 1.4 and you've not got enough electrics in your car to run it down with so will be perfect. Get the S3 56 ah one

Easy enough to check with eurocarparts website  :signLOL:

Provided the battery physically fits and has the right terminals you cant go wrong with a higher capacity battery.  Higher capacity would in fact be better if you make lots of short trips:
Tayna do most of the major manufactures eg Varta
