Title: PCV Valve - which revision?
Post by: hugefoot on November 04, 2017, 11:40:56 am
I was planning on picking up a RevR today: part number 06F129101R, after reading several posts on this forum suggesting this is the latest and recommended upgrade.

Chap at Euro carparts suggested that it won't work with my car and that I need a RevL, as that is the original part?

I have an 04 GTI, I understand it is the AXX engine.

Any pointers and do I need to change anything else when replacing this?

Replaced mine recently, but cant remember the part number letter on the end.

I would just take your reg to TPS or a dealer.

The R version is fine and will work

The version before that, P i think, had a difference check valve setup and required another pipe be replaced with it

N was revised for L and R was revised for N
Get the R

Ps don't bother with Euro, just go VW or TPS and order as per part number

I can't keep up with all these revisions.   I fitted a P I think it was, along with the updated corrugated turbo pipe, which has a check valve in it.  I've since fitted an R and all is still fine.

If you fit a P without the check valve turbo pipe, it won't run properly, but R seems to do both jobs.  I don't get it.  But there it is!

Taken from a previous post of mine a while back:

"It seems revisions E, G and P require breather pipe with valve. Revisions N, L, K, F, C and R do not"

So, to determine which you are most likely to need, find your current rev in these two sequences and go for the latest one. ***this was from my own research so suggest you have a look into it further to confirm, i don't want to be responsible for anyone buying the wrong part  :slap:

What is the difficulty of valve cover replacement diy vs this diy?

Will any dust go inside of the engine fall into engine from pcv?

I thought that R was a compatible replacement for all previous revisions regardless of the presence of check valve in breather pipe and fitted it. Never understood how that works but if that explains the oil consumption that'd be an easy fix  :signLOL: (I wish it was this easy to fix oil consumption haha)

Even with the check valve in the rear pipe, oil from turbo blow back still find it's way on to the MAF......so it solves bugger all

Valve cover?  Why are you replacing that?   It is very easy to replace by the way.  Comes with all new bolts and seals, so you literally just unbag it and throw it on.   Takes 15 mins tops.

Not uncommon for the cover to crack internally (in the channels that run front to back for the PCV) which causes the same symptoms as a faulty PCV valve.

But yeah, very easy job

Do you have the corrugated turbo pipe with check valve part number...long shot I know lol
I’ve got the 06F129101R PCV but do loose oil between servicing
