Title: Will declining the VW EA189 upgrade be detrimental
Post by: chigmuss on November 24, 2017, 07:21:24 pm
I know this is the mk5 forum but...we’ve had a voluntary request to get our 2.0 TDI updated with this. I’ve heard a few bad reviews of this negatively affecting economy. Anyone in the motor trade know if staying with the already installed defeat software is going to push down the trade in if the car? Cheers

I almost bought a Skoda Yeti this year to put the dog in. Did loads of research about the reset from VW Audi group and there was tonnes on each forum from owners who had issues after the new software had been placed on. Not as much power and reduced mpg seemed to be the most common. VAG won't acknowledge there is an issue.

The economy is already less than I'd expect, struggles to get 50mpg on a 90 mile easy run, my old Touran could get 62, as could my A4 1.9 tdi with 250,000 on it! Don't want it to worsen. The old 1.9 engines must be belting out some nasties to achieve their better consumption.
