Title: Stop engine
Post by: Ant b on December 12, 2017, 03:47:31 pm
Hello I was driving alone urlier and my gti just said STOP!
Then it went back of,I scanned it with carista and had no more codes than my precat 02 sensor that I already no about.
Then again it came back on after a while an just said stop again!
What would it be I’ve checked coolent and oil and there fine.
Would it be because it’s -1 and the heater part of my 02 sensers bad

Look at it carefully next time it happens.

It should say STOP, followed by the issue in question.

Your pickup pipe could be partially blocked which is limiting oil flow or else your coolant could be at low level under vacuum due to cold. Take the cap off and see if there's an airlock before topping up accordingly.

The coolent level is fine as I changed my thermostat last week and check it everyday after,it only does it sometimes and disaperers straight away

You could have just cleaned the gauze. It's made from stainless steel so a blast from a pressure washer and a clean in IPA would have done it.

For the price they are it would be fairly stupid to not replace it,as you need new oil and filter and taking the sump of for an extra 25 I’d prefere to change it

Yeah I’ve done the pickup pipes on all my vw Audi’s,shame really as the gti had a full service 2k ago,but now this light has made me paranoid its the pickup,so I done it today all genuine, quantum oil genuine filter and sump plug, plus found I had a boost leek were the clip had come dislodged on my bottom intercooler pipes, goes better than ever now.
I’m quite confident I’ve sorted all the common issues now and it’s helthy.
Had
New pick up oil etc plugs 2k ago
4 genuine coilpacks
Genuine cambelt and water pump
Genuine thermostat and inline stat
New genuine cam chain, tenshioner and adjuster!
Genuine hpfp cam
New intercooler seals
Dv+
All in the 2k I’ve had it

Yep so I’m I,I still haven’t figured out what caused it,the only thing I done was charge my batterie but that wasn’t flat.
I don’t think it was the pickup as that wasn’t bad,but least I have the reassurance
