Title: Engine temperature
Post by: Ria73 on December 17, 2017, 08:10:06 pm
Hi Guys
Can anyone help or advise on running engine temp on a GTI mk5
It sits around 50 I’m pretty sure it was sitting around 90 previously, is this a thermostat problem? And are they easy to change?
Thanks

Yep, seems like a thermostat problem.

It’s your thermostat.

Use the search function for more info

Manual has a main and an inline which are expensive and cheap to fix respectively.

Yes mate it should be your thermostat. Just had mine replaced and fixed the problem.

Matt.

Just thinking mine may need doing. Saw the temp head towards 90 then dropped down to 50. Will keep an eye on it over Christmas and get it sorted in the new year. I only noticed it because I don't want to put my foot down too much unless it's warmed up :)
