Title: Weird Wing Mirror Issue
Post by: Molesy on January 02, 2018, 07:29:55 pm
Hi Guys,

Looking for some help, some little oik decided he didn't like my passenger wing mirror so he gave it a massive smack in the process breaking the mirror and retainer. I bought a replacement off e-bay and fitted tonight, whilst putting it in one of the wiring terminals broke due to corrosion so have left that terminal off and the other connected for another day for me to fix. But now when i move the driver side mirror it moves the passenger side one as well, moving the passenger side moves only that side its bloody weird. Its been a while since I moved the mirrors so not sure if its been an issue for a before but I'm sure it was ok then.  :sad1:

Edit - Also getting her MOT'd on Friday, this wouldn't be a failure would it?

Any ideas on this?

Thanks,

Molesy  :happy2:

Left only moves left and right can be coded to operate both or just the right on its own. So it's not faulty.

I am on my 2nd MK5 and both have had this feature where two mirrors will move when switch is on the driver side setting. Trick is to set the driver side first then the passenger side

Thanks guys, I'm sure its never done it before but if it's normal then cool - I take it will be all ok for an MOT then?

It was always like that but you wouldn't notice it as you were never focusing on both mirrors unless it was always broken and you fixed it when putting wires back on.

It will pass the MOT

You can turn it off with VCDS but it's no harm.
