Title: Issues with retro fitting cruise control
Post by: jhook661 on January 13, 2018, 06:56:12 pm
Evening all I've fitted cruise control today and the diagnostic wire too because mines a 05 gti
Fitting was easy enough todo ...but I went for a test drive tried to engage cruise control and nothing happens no green light nothing.. coding I changed the 2nd to last digit on the steering wheel and engine side of coding I used the long code reader helper and ticked the box to have cruise control any thoughts ??
I've brought a new genuine rev G cruise control stalk
I've got highline clocks so the control module should be okay
And a rev c slip ring is okay too ?
Have I missed something ?? HELP !

What happens when you flick the switch and check measuring blocks on steering wheel control module?

Check it registers the switch as on and off as well as the rocker buttons

It recognises the stalk in the steering wheel module.
ON/OFF and the cancel function you can see the values changing when flicking the switch

Undo it and reprogram it as sometimes it won't register the first time as o was having trouble with mine when I first fitted the stalk on. No other parts needed.

Do you have genuine vcds?
Cruise control was one of my first mods, using a clone cable.
The clone wasn't able to activate.
I bought a genuine cable and all was fine.

Although, I think I had some kind of warning or error message, so may not be your issue.
