At last I've got my front struts off after having to use a cutting disc on 2 mount bolts.
Can anyone advise how much genuine vw top mounts and bump stops cost?
Or alternative versions that are good?

Omfdayz I've just done my H&R sports kit and I grinder one and then realised it's better to heat them up and then undo the bolts as two of mine were spinning the nuts underneath :doh: heat then mole gripped them and they came off easy :happy2:
Eurocarparts around £40 quid for the top mounts and they don't do the bump stops as I bought a kit over a years ago and sold it off on here as I bought the H&R's

Thanks. Been looking at the Corecco parts on ecp but never heard of any they sell....

Sorry what do you mean never heard of any they sell? Those are the ones they sell but check out eBay too as you can get other brands like febi but a little pricier and I would rather those for the few extra quid :happy2:

I would get TT ones from TPS. They are stiffer than GTI ones, which are too squidgy and rubbish with aftermarket dampers. And put some anti-sieze grease on the 3 top mount bolts :happy2:

Interestingly I found the squidgy noise on mine came after I installed the poly alk and front bushings...more stress on the mounts?
Top mounts were replaced with oem parts way before and they were fine (no noise) with eibach sportlines.
More squidgy noise now that the weathers Baltic
No bother but I’ll be getting them replaced as pudding says with TT if and when they fail on me

That's a strange one. Those parts shouldn't really have any bearing on the top mounts, but that's how it goes with uprating things. The next weakest link in the chain starts to make noise or wear out a lot faster.
Springs don't make a difference to the top mounts as those forces are supported by the car body and the big fat bearing. The bit that squidges is the inner part of the mount the damper rod bolts onto. The factory dampers are less aggressive so you don't hear anything, but with aftermarket uprated dampers, there's a lot of movement which is really noticeable with standard GTI mounts. A lot less so with TT ones.
I noticed the rubbery squidging noise the most over speed humps. The TT ones still do it, but way less than the GTI ones. I could hear those squidging going round corners as well!

I had mine done on Friday, parts from dealer (I asked for a discount, so take 10% off the prices below). With the discount, it was within a few £ of TPS price via mechanic.
Top Mount K0 412 331 B - £31.13 + VAT EACH
Bearing K0 412 249 B - £16.07 + VAT EACH
Top mount bolts (3 per side) - VN 101 277 07 - £1.00 + VAT EACH
You may also want to buy a new centre nut too.

I've ordered Corecco units from Euro Car Parts as they were the better quality option and are currently at 40% off making them cost £45 for a pair. Not running modified suspension on my car, my MR2 Turbo gets all that stuff.
