Title: What required to retrofit Mk6 flat bottom ?
Post by: Raj2212 on February 10, 2018, 02:14:10 pm
Apologies if this has already been asked.

Thinking about fitting a Mk6 flat bottom. What else is needed apart from the wheel and airbag. And what are the costs involved ?

Many Thanks

You'll probably need a new steering control module, about £60 for Chinese one on eBay and it'll need to be coded in of course.

And a type 2 slip ring as well but you may have one already :happy2:

This is assuming it's a multi function steering wheel you've fitted.

Cost depends where you buy and how long you can wait for @Raj2212 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=22216) !

I also changed my cruise stalk to a revision R I think it was

My cost was offsetted by selling existing parts. But my wheel cost £290 (with airbag), MFSW loom was £10 (China), CH Steering wheel module was £45 (China) and I fitted and coded it myself. Didn't need a type 2 slip ring but I believe these are about  £20 too.

this is a good link once you know what steering module you have (you can find this out from checking via VCDS or the harder route and dismantling your existing set up to get to the module - I suggest the VCDS route as it's much easier  :signLOL: )

Hi guys! I'm now in about the same issue.
I've installed MK6 paddle shifters on my 2008 Leon Cupra DSG converted. They don't do anything, don't even lit up.

I pretty sure this has to do with the steering wheel control module not being the right one.
Because I had multifunctional steering wheel before, I assumed it will work, but I guess I need a LIN2 compatible one to work with MK6 paddles.
I think any of these 3 should be ok not only 1K0953549CH:

1K0953549CD
1K0953549Ck
1K0953549CH

Any advice?

Thanks!

CH or CK only. For CD would need to change whole pw steering assembly.

Got CH today, at a click away to buy a CD. Could you share more about merging yellow wires to pin 10 for the CC stalk (in case I don't have rev G)? Do you have a picture maybe?

I understood that now I have them like this, 2 yellow wires going to PIN 5 and 10:

And I need to merge the 2 yellow wires to PIN 10 like this:
