Title: Topic: 01208 - Data Records in Control Unit Altered

Hi guys,

I recently had the EMP light come on and few days later my mrs hit the bottom of the car going over a speed bump and the engine management light came on. Plugged in the cheap diagnostic tool U281 and comes up with an error 01208 only. Car drives fine.

Unfortunately I don’t have a VCD to run any further scans.

Any idea how to resolve this? MOT due soon as well.

Mk5 Gti 06, DSG and ECU mapped. Decat, ramair.

What the Google says:-

"This fault code sets if the Engine and Transmission software are incompatible (software version), you need to install the correct DSG Mechatronics controller for this vehicle, check with your Volkswagen Parts department for correct part numbers, the VAG number on the controller screen is the part number.

So from the info above, the engine and dsg transmission software are incompatible??

Is it due to the dsg mapping? This was done at least a year ago.
