Happen's to mine evertime the sun shines into the car and gets warm. Yet another sh*t vw fault that effects probably all there mk5 golf's and they probably don't do recalls. :/
Reminds me of my audi a3 with pixels missing an yet they didn't replace them free either

It's a known fault with the smaller LCD cluster screens. Upgrade to a highline cluster/MFA+, not worth to replace that screen with a new one. This already happened with the smaller LCD screens on mk4 Golfs and B5/B5.5/B6 Passats.

Same here, everytime it gets hot it goes like yours!!!
Also had it just go solid red with no text at all!!!
-
54 plate here, mines exactly the same. Only when engine hot.
-
Let us know if you sort it? How much and where from etc.
-
this only happens when I have the heating on :signLOL: Another inherent fault

Upgrade to high line clocks (red display).
Plenty of info on here about them and upgrading.
Or depending on year (abs pump fitted) can upgrade to white or colour display, but will need additional adapter cable too.
This is a bit harder but do-able.

Just a note of caution...
I have the full height highline clocks (factory fitted) and in the heat my display fades to nothing at the bottom right too. So go into any suggested upgrade to 'fix' this issue with your eyes open.
At all other times the display is perfect and I've found that leaving the sunroof popped up (with the interior ultrasonics turned off) helps lessen the fade on hot days such as yesterday.
Hope this helps.

What year is your car? The highline cluster are much more resistant to fade with heat.

Let's be real here. Is it worth spending cash on a upgrade just to see your mileage when we get sun like 3 months a year. Lol
I vote leave it like most owners.

My digital display is already red does that mean its the high line version?
