Theres a few induction threads but i couldn't find any under 90 days and couldn't see any where the lower vent is ducted to the air filter...plenty of ducting but they seem to just vent in front of a cone type filter which are apparently noisy. Just thought I’d try and contribute by adding my recent induction kit addition. Bit of a bodge, I had some serious engine issues and was taking the plugs/PCV out on a daily basis so got so fed up with the standard air filter/cover that induction solved the problem and I had a carbon dynamics air filter on my V5 that i was happy to swap. pictures are fairly self explanatory. Not sure you can call it forced induction but the faster you drive the faster the air is pushed in the hole (science). Also being on the floor outside of the engine bay I can’t hear much sucking, bet it sounds interesting outside but I’m inside so that's everyone else’s problem. I’m sceptical of weather induction kits do much for performance but it’s done away with that pesky cover so I’m happy and it seems to pull better but probably psychosomatic. Car runs way better than before, a tiny hesitation on idle occasionally but nothing to write home about.

Recorded my 0-20/0-40/0-60/0-80/0-100 (mph) times today with a ODBll. Thought my 0-120 was reached but it wasn't and I ran out of road so had to hit the brakes... Personally, I was quite impressed, and the adrenaline was very much enjoyed lol.
what will yours do?
Golf GTI Mk5 2.0l DSG
Times are recorded and taken from my ECU.

Like it! I hope you don't drive hard into deep water
The only 'Ram air' effect that works is fitted to Formula 1 cars. I read an article about ram air in road cars some years ago. I'm pretty sure they measured 1psi positive pressure at the intake, at like 150mph or something around that. But that wasn't via a long pipe like yours, but a snorkel fitted through the grille. Still, it does make things a lot quieter and feeds plenty of cold air to the turbo, so it's still worthwhile.

150mph hey....so I should slow down for it to work :) Interesting stuff, my goals were more hillbilly than formula 1 and for £150 I now have easy access to the engine wenever I need it.

Nice

Done similar on mine but different location

Like it MIJ, your trumpet/inlet looks better than mine but then mine is a bass duct from an old sub box!! Like I say a bit of a hill billy fix. £150 all in!!
-
I’d be worried about sucking up water tho
-
I think the turbo would stall long before any water made its way through the intercooler and into the engine.....but a water logged turbo and a shorted out maf will ruin your day as well.

And also sucking up all the crap spraying off the rear tyres of the car in front. I think the filter will get filthy really quickly and you'll lose all of the supposed advantages.

Had it dyno'd today. Baseline with induction, pcv delete, cat back powerflow, red coil packs and jellybean air freshener was 202.84hp and 299.04Nm. After a map from Uber Tuning its now putting out 242.48Hp and 369.78Nm.
