Title: Are there Insurance Companies that accept mods, apart from the 'speciaist' ones
Post by: Lewo on April 28, 2018, 01:44:53 pm
Last time I had a look with Adrian Fux, Greenlight, Sky & Brentacre the quotes were around 3 x the price of my premium which I thought was a complete piss take.
I will contact them all again along with HIC which I've seen mentioned on here as well, but are there any of the usual Companies that allow mods, think I've read that Elephant/Admiral might, any others?
Thanks.

I moved from Admiral to Greenlight and it was about £20 more including adding modifications. The guy I chatted to at Greenlight clearly knew about the cars. When I said I had a cat back exhaust, he asked if it was a Miltek or BCS, wouldn't have got that at Admiral

I'd try them again. Maybe your circumstances are different and that accounts for the big difference

is great dealing with a knowledgeable enthusiast like David, rather than ‘tick box’ administrator.

I think quite a few of them do, but you have to be a certain age with some of them and some will only accept certain mods.
Better just going with a specialist like Sky Car Insurance, Adrian Flux, Greenlight or Herts.

I haven't got a problem going with one of the specialist companies if they play ball, and I expect to pay more than my standard premium but if they take the piss again I'm not interested.
I'm thinking about refreshing the shocks and springs some time this year so thought about getting the VW racing set as I'm guessing they wouldn't that much more than standard....hopefully.

The big insurers won’t touch engine, exhaust and brake upgrades, but some are OK with suspension upgrades.  The problem with brokers is who they underwrite through - usually Highway (or worse) - who aren’t always the best when it comes to claims.

Cheers Pudding useful info, I'll be asking who the Underwriters are then when I speak to them.  :happy2:

As a starter my renewal quote has gone up 22%, no change in circumstances...  :rolleye:

Aviva accept up to 5 mods, just don't mention "fuel pump"
