Title: Mounting new tweeters
Post by: willni on June 27, 2018, 11:42:17 pm
Anyone have any tips on fitting new tweeters to the door cars, I've mine installed but not 100% happy and want a stronger mount to the doorcard, had no luck with plastic welding.

Hi, do you mean the mid speaker on the door card or the tweeters by the door mirror? I retrofitted the mid speakers as mine didn't originally have them. I created an adaptor plate out of a sheet of plastic I got from eBay, mounted the aftermarket speaker to it and then screwed it to the door card using the existing mounting points using screws and clips from halfords.

Buy 2 new doorcords from allegro.pl or from ebay that will fit the speaker setup you need :)

It's essentially the mids, but in the 5 door the rears have tweeter, where the mids are in the fronts. Would the screws not go through the door card though?

No the mounting points are deep enough if the correct length screws are used, when you remove the door card it will become obvious.
