Well hears my GTI Edition 30 - stage 2 bluefin with milltek tbe resonated, dbilas intake, bilstein pss10 coils, WALK kit and full set of VF engine mounts.
Dynoed last week at 324bhp & 353lbft
Few pics I took while bored at work today sorry for poor quality taken on iphone ...
Shows ride height with new bilstein coils fitted and a pic under the bonnet with new dbilas and engine cover (not impressed with engine cover cost £70  looks OK)

FOOK ME 324bhp & 353lbft....I WANT ONE!! lol
have to agree with the engine cover, the standard looks better tbh!
-
yeah i prefer oem engine cover but wont fit with intake unless you cut it up and I plan to put back on when I sell in the future so can't do.
think it still looks better than the engine on display...
-
A few lads have got a secondhand OE cover and trimmed to suit which is another option, cars looking mint by the way, good list of mods :happy2:
-
very nice car and mods , engine cover looks like some thing of blue peter :xmaslaugh:
-
Very nice James! Quite a lot of changes from when I last saw it!!! :happy2: :happy2:

Very nice James! Quite a lot of changes from when I last saw it!!! :happy2: :happy2:
thanks for kind words, definitely changed since that cold saturday in october on the rr day, pleased with the extra 50 ponies though and handles and feels alot better too.
as for anything else, well if i find a spare 3.5k in my back pocket i would love to have the vwr quaife and break upgrade but pipe dreams as for power im quite content for the mo especially with these icy conditions :driver:
-
Looks good, as an owner of a dbilas, i will def not be buying that engine cover  did you get the heat sheild?
-
looks very nice mate
-
i actually like the engine cover. very nice 30 mate :drinking:
-
I don't think the engine cover is too bad really.
I think if you could get a sticker/badge of some sort made up to put on it, it would finish it off.
Don't ask me what the sticker/badge should say lol!
But I can just envisage something on it, which would top it off!
Hope that makes some form of sense haha!
-
looking good mate. not a huge fan of the engine cover but with 324bhp, i wouldnt care less!
-

yeah got the dbilas heat shield, the engine cover is by evoms though just so people know not to go for that one :signIWS: never mind its not like i drive with the bonnet up.
pleased with dbilas though nice and quiet when cruising but as soon you boot it, produces a nice note with the exhaust.
vf engine mounts and coilovers seem to have settled in now done about 400 mile on them, the vibrations seemed to have calmed down even when sat in traffic in D mode they are hardly noticeable, or i have got used to them..
all together feels very solid and roll feel when taking corners aggressively is pretty much non existent just gripped really well :driver:
-
Sorry if i have missed it somewhere James are you saying that there is not much of a difference with the VF mounts compared to standard, i mean in the cabin with vibrations.

first couple of hundred miles after having them installed the difference between stock and mounts was night and day, was vibrations while idling and in low gears going along, the break pedal also vibrated a bit too and cabin noise was quite alot more noticeable. i was a little concerned...
have given it a good long drive today and pushed it pretty hard  overall done around 400 miles on them
got home and took my g/f to supermarket and she commented that the noise and vibrations were not as bad as before, which confirmed what i felt on the drive back as i got in to the congestion in London, but still more noticeable than pre mounts.
they seemed to have settled in, though still very much noticeable in terms of feel of the car, gear changes, breaking and cornering all feels sturdier.
-
Very nice car mate, think the dbilas is gonna be next on my list of things to do.
-
Nice matey :happy2: Really good set of mods there :rolleye:

Few pics when I was out for a drive this weekend with a decent cam

Great pictures, and lovely drop!
Are you going to fit the oem centre of the engine cover to the evoms?
-
can i just quickly ask what are the advantages of that engine cover? sorry for being ignorant, im not a huge reader of the 2.0T threads sorry
-
None really, but IMO the TFSI ain't the prettiest engine about!
-
so that engine cover is just about how it looks? reaLLY?
-
so that engine cover is just about how it looks? reaLLY?
yep its purely cosmetic no benefits what so ever, a bit like putting a gti front on a gt  :P
-
The Evoms engine cover was designed to use the silver centre section of the original oem cover, which is why I asked if you were going to fit it, as it makes the cover look a hundred times better.
like this: http://www.evoms.com/Pictures/Gallery/%7B5C9CA2D8-2219-4F33-9E4B-BBD1BD08BDC8%7D.jpg
:innocent:
-
i will look into that, have to wait till I head to me mam's as i dumped everything in her garage after fitting.
that pic does make it look alot better, thanks for tip.
-
No worries James. The original will just clip off, and then all you need to do is clip it on to the new one. :happy2:
-
that looks miles better with the silver bit on.
is the original cover that offensive? i quite like it
-
Sorry, I have to butt in as this conversation is driving me nuts :jumping: Its not an aesthetic mod JPC - the OEM cover doesn't fit with the EVOMS intake - and I guess with the DBLIAS one either.
-
I assumed people knew that the air intake was integral to the oem cover, therefore the cover will not fit with any aftermarket intake, rendering it useless (without modding).
The evoms cover is an aesthetic mod though.
-

ohhhh right...well i can understand that now. fair does, well if its a better intake, it doesnt really matter what it all looks like
-
thanks for all the advice, if i knew that bit fitted a few weeks ago when i first had the bits put on, then i might not have been so disappointed with the evoms cover on its own. and would have also clipped on last weekend when I was at me ma's.
anyhow shows the benefits of thes forums :grouphug:
overall though really happy with how car is running now.
vf engine mounts - one of my favourite mod's, quite alot of vibrations and extra cabin noise first few hundres miles but now really settled in and hardly noticeable, once used to them, but everything seems improved - feel of car, accelerating, breaking, cornering and gear changes, i also dont get wheel hop anymore when the car judders when flooring it i just get wheel spin now
coilovers - really loosened up lately and grip is very good, and gives you alot more confidence in the corners. though quite a low ride and speed humps in london are sometimes an issue - may raise it a bit soon
blufin stage 2 map is running very well, im not one to use the accelerating pedal conservatively or progressively , am 25 with 324bhp going through the front wheels of my gti.. whats a boy to do. but no engine light problems for me and is running better than ever with this cold weather especially when you get a nice dry road.

....You beat me to it, Matt!
Regal :fighting: really should have told you that, James - They're meant to be the UK representatives of EVOMS.
Apart from aesthetically tidying up the messy appearance of the 2.0T FSI engine, a cover will give a wee bit more protection from the elements - Just look how splashed etc an oem cover can get.
Personally, I like the EVOMS cover a lot and think it looks very purposeful.
It looks even better with a carbon centre strip

Great feedback and info on the engine mounts, James :happy2:
It's my next mod, but VWR's 'Fast Road' version (as opposed to their hardcore race version).
Cheers!

Came across another pic for you, James : -

thanks for the pics robin, I was at me ma's last weekend and tried to fit the silver cover to the evoms, though was not so easy, oem silver cover has clips all the way up, 4 of them so you have to cut these off, now the question is what glue is best to use which won't fail with the engine heat?
Any help would be great
Thanks
J

Those very strong sticky pads? My number plate is stuck on with them [Wolverhampton-proof, I hope!]
I got mine from Ant Graphics in Bedford via TTshop. But will they stick to metal?

Few updates to the car done recently and some more planned for later in the week.
First off finally got the new brakes fitted, had a small issue when fitting in that they needed a 8mm spacer to clear the 18" pescara wheel. the spacers they used were cheapo ones and left the ride feeling terrible so Wheelman kindly provided us with 10mm hubcentric ones, decided to get all 4 wheels done so it looked right and now ride is back to normal. Brakes now bedded in and feeling very positive and alot firmer than stock one's in all situations.

all 4 wheels now with 10mm spacers

Had the APR high pressure fuel pump fitted too the same day and this has already had a noticeable improvement on mid range pull without having a new remap, but off to Superchips this friday to be re-tuned to take the pump in to account and they can turn up the fuel pressure to 130 bar  - RESULTS of this to come..
also the new oem 'd' dv valve was put in, i know there has been some issues regarding whether this is the correct part for the tfsi, but so far fitted well and car has been running like normal can't tell if there has been any noticeable improvements as this seems to have come from the fuel pump.
Will update after Friday with the results of the re-tune with superchips.
-
Sounds good James!
This car should be a serious weapon at the Pod if you make it on Saturday!!!
-
looks like it need a REALLY good polish!! :nerd:
-
Keep us posted matey. Looking forward to see the results from Superchips :happy2:
-
Looks a great list of mods. Be interested in the power and torque curve with the map adjusted to suit new pump. :happy2:
-
looks like it need a REALLY good polish!! :nerd:
it certainly does, but i prefer driving it than cleaning and polishing it
but i have just purchased a Meguiars Quick clay kit and Werkstat Acrylic kit so when i get a spare few hours on the weekend it will be looking nice and shiny. :happy2:
-
as a self confessed brake whore yours looks
top car :happy2:
-
thought I might update the build thread....
well I finally got it back last friday after been without it for 3 months or so, has been repaired from this:
to this
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fu347%2Fjnewby99%2F9aa47354.jpg&hash=4c9bb9f42b44d0640a6a19152ede93ab5fc3a569)
pleased with how its looking, although there are still a few errors popping up so will be going back unfortunately as I think the exhaust has gone as its making an unusual sound and the mil light is on, also got an error code for the power steering..
apart from that though it drove pretty well, dsg wasn't changed unfortunately but seems perfect.. boost is strong, handling is pretty sharp but im getting vibrations through the steering wheel when doing three figures so that needs looking at too
but good to have it back and driving again :happy2:
-
good to see you back in the GTI :happy2:
-
:congrats: :driver: :driver:
-
Nice to hear you have finally got it back and hopefully they can sort your problems.
Perhaps this thread could become the rebuild thread.
-
Good news James. Good to see you back :happy2:
-
Good to see it back James

Must be a relief to get it back on the road.
