Others will be along with more experience, but I bought my dsg Edition 30 with 97k miles on it last November.  It’s just passed 110k miles and the only things I’ve had to do are:
 - replace all 4 disks and pads
 - replace gaiters on one driveshaft as one had split
 - replace rear springs as one had snapped (failed MoT)
 - replaced all 4 tyres as soon as I bought it.  They’re currently less than half worn.

Overall I’m very please with it.  It’s great for my 100 mile daily round commute.

Dave

Depends what you class as high mileage really..
mine's for sale in classifieds 121k, absolutely no issues, only selling due to getting a T5

How much was the replacement box if you don’t mind me asking?

I bought mine a year ago at 104k, since done 10k.

Maintenance wise:
New Timing chain and tensioner + Labour £360
Replaced 2 x Tyres £120
New thermostat £80
New oil pick up pipe and sump clean + Labour £130
New brake pads all round + Labour £90
New CV Joints + Labour £130
Full service, new oil, all filters + spark plugs £50-60 if you get the bits yourself.

Cam follower, dv and pcv we’re replaced last year as well as a DSG service so didn’t bother replacing those bits again.

A DSG Service from VW is around £170. Think the interval is 40k between services.
