hi i've got a mk6 gti steering and was wandering if there was anything else i need to fit along with it ?
Any info much appreciated :happy2:
By the way my car is a 2005 gti with midline dash :happy2:
-
MFSW??
-
forgot to say no mfsw :ashamed:
-
Easy job mate! Fits just like the mk5 one
-
cool thanks bud :happy2:
Is it a case if just coding the mk6 mfsw in then or will the buttons not work because i didnt have a mfsw in the first place ?
-
You said above that is wasn't a MFSW _ I guess you got confused :signLOL:
You may well need a new steering controller if you weren't MFSW originally. I'm sure one of the guys who's fitted it will be along to help.
-
confused - definately :rolleye:
just assumed all the mk6 gti had mfsw because everyone i've seen has had it :chicken:
-
Yes the Mk6 has MFSW as standard :happy2:

When I changed to the mk6 MFSW (no MFSW before) I had to change to this:
1KO 953 549 CH ( i ordered the BK but it didn't work with the slip ring)
Also you will need the slip ring 1KO 959 653 C (your car may have it)
Ollie :happy2:

And if you have C/C you can expect to lose it as we haven't solved that problem yet :sad1:

Are you buying from the dealer?
-

-
I bet that cost a fair chunk! Might not be to bad if you have the airbag though. You will love it when its fitted! :happy2:
-
wasnt too bad was 300 , bargain really for what m getting

The mk 6 C/C stalk has partnumber 1K0 953 513 G
I think u need this in order for the steering wheel to work
Can someone confirm if Steering coloumn controller partnumber 1K0 953 549 CH is compatible with the DSG flappy paddles? As I have a jetta TFSI with DSG and i want to use flappy paddles
-
Hi guys. Is there a DIY for this mod? That HPA Turbo R32 down here has one of these wheels and wants to fit it to his 2008 built MKV R32.
Basically it sounds like I just need to find the DIY to take off the MK5 and then fit the MK6.
Are the wiring and connections are the same? Is this slip ring an issue between the two models?
Cheers for any advice. J
Would he need to buy the 2010 Golf R or Scirocco R Steering Wheel Control Module. It's an R-Line wheel (Black trim, not silver)
-
Hey John :)
AP already has the part numbers to get it to work but yeah to get this to work on MK5's I was told you need
1) steering column controller unit
2) "C" revision slip ring
3) MK6 Cruise control stalk
the steering column controller i'm assuming is the MK6 one. The only difference i Think between the R-Line and the normal GTI MK6 wheel is the black trim....
-
Stephen, Anthony has the numbers, because he asked me to look into it for him. I gave him what he needed last week thanks to MortyGTI (Darren). :happy2:
-
Hahahaha ahh I see. Fair enough :) I too actually got the numbers from MortyGTI on the GolfMK5 forum

You cannot get a MK6 DSG steering without multi- function. It comes as standard onDSG wheels, and it is not a straight swap you need a new controller unit as well. :happy2:

Its not a GTI wheel but none the less, you are right. I wish i would have known this was available before i went through the whole 9 yards getting one. I could have bought that and got myself a couple of intakes with the change for what i have paid. :sad1: :rolleye:
-
so what do you think
will it fit ok
-
Sorry to bump this thread, didnt see the point of making a new one
Just want some clarifications please
Just found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-STEERING-WHEEL-GOLF-5-V-6-VI-R32-SCIROCCO-GTI-MK6-/110581994583?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19bf335457
I dont have MFSW at the moment and tbh i dont want the buttons, so is it just a simple case of taking my MK5 wheel off and put the MK6 one on?
Is the process:
disconnect battery and leave it for 5-10mins
Take MK5 wheel off
Plug the horn connection to MK6 wheel
bolt on the MK6 wheel
connect battery back up
Using same bolts
is this right? as i did a wheel swap on my previous car and did this process
-
I've never disconnected the battery when fitting steering wheels to my A3 8P :driver:
-
i bought the mk6 wheel off of one of the many sellers now (mk6).
it appears that they are "falling" off of the ROCCO assambly line.
i got a new rocco R black trimmed wheel with the airbag , compeltly new for 300 pounds and he was willing to sell normal gti for 210.
the same price applies if you want MFSW or paddels.

Sorry to bring up an old thread,
I did search for a while to get the answers I was after. But this seems to be the most informative at this stage.
Just to clarify, There are no additional wiring looms required. Going from 05 mk5 GTi non MFSW (manual) to mk6 MFSW Steering wheel?
Simply, SW Controller, Slip ring and CC stalk from mk6?
I'm assuming there's some coding to be done the CAN-Gateway to let the car know you now have MFSW?
Otherwise just going to the mk5 MFSW I only need the controller? or will I need the slip ring too?

if you buy a complete MFSW the inside wiring should be included. regarding slipring check what revision you have, if A or B it need replacing with minimum revision C for MFSW to work

Any knowledgeable people there can confirm if this will work on a Touran along with a mk 6 MFSW and the steering angle sensor??
1K0953549AP
:notworthy:
Or maybe this
1K0 953 549 CK
Or
1K0953549CQ
-
If you want a mk6 wheel with buttons
use either
1K0 953 549CH or 1K0 953 549CK
I haven't used CK, but on ross-tech steering controller list it says it does support the G85
However I had a BS and CB and they were supposed to support G85 on the list but didn't

Thx Eddie,
I bought a mk 6 normal mfsw with both arms and controller controller did't support the steering angle sensor :sad1:
Also do you know of any vehicles that does not support rear wiper function in the wiper arm?
The arm is fitted but wifey can't push it forward to activate the rear wiper??

Hi Jake
You probably have a CD version and the stalk came from a Jetta, Eos or Passat Saloon
So You would be best to get a CH controller and change the stalk to one ending with H or J

Sorry to re-start this thread, but it has loads of info in it.
Iam toying with the idea of fitting a MK6 mfsw to my 08 Mk5.
Currently it is mid-line ,non-mfsw, retro fitted with cruise in feb2012.
1)Is my slip ring ok?
2)do i still need control module 1K0 953 549CH?
3)do i need a new harness? like in this link?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-STEERING-WHEEL-MODULE-1K0953549CH-AIRBAG-HARNESS-5K0971584-For-VW-GOLF-6-GTI-/301158581121?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item461e734381
4)is any coding required?
5)could i fit this myself, is there a guide? i can't do coding......should be ok with mechanical stuff & good guide....bit worried about handling airbag.......
