Title: Golf Gti MK5 DSG Fuel Cut/ Loss of Power
Post by: w4qas321 on July 24, 2018, 10:02:29 pm
Hi All,

Having a few issues with my GTI DSG cutting fuel/ loss of power at the moment  :sad1: started getting these problems ever since i bought the car... when cruising on the motorway it decides sometimes to drop to 4th gear and cut all fuel and has a loss of power and will return back to normal however sometimes it needs to be turned on and off to return back to normal. I have changed the done the below and still has not change:

1 - Low Pressure Fuel Pump
2 - High Pressure Fuel Pump
3 - Cam Follower
4 - Had a Stage 1 Map took the car back to normal and still the same
5 - Spark Plugs
6 - Fuel Filter
7 - DV
8 - Fuel Pressure Sensor
9 - Fuel Pressure Valve

and the car still does the same and i have ran out of options??

Have you tried getting the DSG serviced. Think it’s around £170 to do at VW. Any history of it being done ?

Have you had it scanned for fault codes?

DSG service was done at 120k and the car is sitting currently at 128k, only fault code which comes up is P2293 which isnt a stored code but just a Pending code. Thanks

I'd start by replacing the fuel filter.

Tank strainer on the pick up

Maybe it’s one thing making other things happen

Tank fuel Pick up blocks , Fuel pressure drops ,revs drop,  dsg drops down a gear as revs drop demand on fuel drops strainer clears a bit and things pick up or sometimes a turn of clears the debris back in to the tank

Just a thought maybe worth cleaning out the tank
