Title: outside temperature sensor - where is it?
Post by: rallycross on February 12, 2010, 09:15:06 am
my car (2004) is reading the outside temp to be -35 deg in fact its more like 5 deg.

Where about is the sensor located on the car, whats involved in changing it?

It'll likely be behind the front bumper (not 100% sure where on the Golf but it's to the nearside of the bumper on an Octavia and I guess it'll be similar on the Golf.  It's a simple plug in sensor.

is it used for any 'important ' functions ?

anyone considered routing it as an intake temp sensor ?

I Have heard that the A/C compressor won't run if the car is reading ambient temp below 5 degrees.

That shouldn't be an issue if you plan to re-route the sensor to meaure intake temps though.
