Title: What to replace when subframe is off etc...
Post by: oak_grun on July 31, 2018, 08:50:05 pm
Hi, I will be doing a overhaul of components on my Edition 30 shortly and would like some advice from people who have done something similar recently in terms of what I should replace whilst doing other bits and pieces etc...

So I will be replacing the following bits;

Engine mounts for Vibratechnics - full set including subframe mount
H&R Arbs
Anti Lift kit
H&R springs on standard shocks for now...unless I can get my hands on a set of Bilstein shocks in time...

Whilst the above is being fitted, is there anything else I should consider replacing at the same time?

Thanks in advance. :happy2:

check there is no play in the rack. Could take off the downpipe and not knock out the pre cat whilst the subframe if off.

could fit a deadset kit or fit the ecs shims with Passat bolts.

New stretch bolts will be used on engine mounts  :happy2:

Anything else?

I think I've read some where that when fitting anti lift kit, it's worth changing bottom arm bushes too?

You'll be needing a full set of subframe bolts as well as the engine mount bolts.  Everything that supports the drivetrain and chassis components uses stretch bolts.

I wouldn't bother with the front wishbone bushes personally, but the rear ones (ALK) is well worth doing.

Tyrolsport deadset is well worth doing.

Also a good time to check for split CV boots and other maintenance items.
