Title: Whining noise when revving engine
Post by: monk180 on July 31, 2018, 11:13:26 pm
Hi,

There is a whining noise, when revving the engine in neutral. Oddly it sound's louder when coasting in neutral and revving, not so bad when stood still, with the door open trying to hear it.

It is very constant with engine revs, and gets higher pitched the higher the revs.

I guess maybe an alternator bearing? If it was the turbo, I guess the noise would lag a bit behind the revs.

Thanks
Fred

can you indicate roughly what part of the engine bay the whines coming from? maybe get someone to rev it with you listening? might help pin point where its coming from
