Hello all! Going to be doing and oil change on my Manuel gearbox with a service soon. What's the best oil to use on a mk5 Golf Gti and experiences?
Cheers

best oil is the stuff you get from VW, stick with OEM for this one. Available from TPS/VW etc
Molesy :happy2:

Definitely OEM. Shifts better than the Millers NT gearoil I had before.

I’ve been using Motul. Put some in when I got the car at 107,000. When I changed it when installing my LSD at 165,000 it was still in good condition.

Stick with Oem. I changed to Fuchs which was OE spec but it made 2nd gear notchy.

The dealer oil is the best there is, period :happy2:

Out of interest, how do you find the cold weather change into 2nd gear with the Motul? This seems to be the acid test for gear oils on our cars.

The OEM oil is like water compared to the aftermarket options. Super thin.
RoyalPurple Synchromax might be worth a look. Honda gearboxes are equally as fussy as VW boxes with oil, and Honda boys have had good luck with the RP.
