Does anyone know what part number my abs module is on my 2008 gti?
I went to Vw the other day to have them run a diagnostics as my abs and traction light cane on. The result was that I need a new abs module. Despite it being recalled last December for the abs module, which was updated, they won’t cover the new abs module under the recall. They wanted £1400 to replace it, so I’m going to replace it instead.
If anyone knows what part number my abs module is that would be great.

You should have a MK60EC1 ABS pump, but you need to confirm this with VCDS. You can get a cheap used one on ebay and then ask one of the retrofit gurus here to code your new ABS pump. I've done that to my diesel GT Sport recently. The ABS module died one day suddenly (it was updated due to the fix recall in February). Now I have XDS, HHC, and ESP partially or fully off.
I fitted this one:

Thanks for the fast replies!
I was told the Vw code was 16352.
If I buy a used one which is the same part number as mine, once it’s been installed, does it still need to be re-coded?
If I remove battery and battery tray, will I be able to see the part number stamped on the unit itself?

The ABS pump coding is specific to the car's VIN, so you need someone who knows how to code the pump. Only retrofitters (Eddie-NL, Alex Retro, etc.) know how to do it. I have LHD cars, I don't know where your ABS pump is located.

Does the pump itself have a part number written on it? So if I am able to
Locate it on the car, I can see which one I have?

Yes, all of this kind of parts show the part number.
