Title: Rust around boot badge - repair or replace?

My GTi has really bad rust around the boot handle and is an 06 plate (over the 12yr corrosion warranty).

I think it would be easier/cheaper to buy a used door and switch the glass so the codes match.

I would personally find a replacement from a breaker...is the glass blue or green?

As an example, I replaced a wing with a perfect secondhand genuine one (factory painted the same colour) for far less money than it would have cost to tackle a whole paint job and buy a new wing.....cost me £30 and my time to swap it out.
