Title: Edition 30 smoke help
Post by: Ste803 on October 02, 2018, 06:13:21 pm

Hi new to the forum and in need of help.

Have a edition 30 106k stage 2+ dsg. I get a puff of white/grey smoke that fills the back window but only after i have lifted of the accelerator and coasting then re apply the accelerator. Happens more when going down hill it seems and only after like 10 seconds of coasting. But it doesnt happen all the time tho.
Havent noticed oil consumption going up seems normal and boost pipes looked clear of oil last time i checked. Oil doesnt smell of fuel either.
Is it the MAP, the breather system (pcv changed) turbo seals/turbo or something else? I have no idea now.

Any advice or direction would be greatly received.

It could be oil pooling in the intake/intercooler which is being drawn into the engine under the vacuum of over run.

It could be from the PCV if you've over filled the sump.

It could be worn valve guides, or a worn turbo.

I think a compression test, and/or leak down test is a good starting point to establish engine health before firing the parts cannon at it.
