Title: Wheel nut covers
Post by: loop on October 10, 2018, 03:27:03 pm
I need a new set, found some on Amazon but not sure if they will fit the locking wheel nuts? Is it best to use the VW dealer for these ?

i brought some off ebay, not the plain black ones, i got the black ones with Volkswagen stamped round the front (like the genuine ones) good fit! if anything, they are a little tighter than the genuine.

Cheers, just read a few reviews where people say they don’t fit the locking wheel nut correctly!  Got a quote from the dealer and they are surprisingly cheap, but not enough in stock currently.

Daft question but what are these? I just got a text of the guy I bought my R32 from saying he forgot he ordered a set and that he'd send them to me.

I got some from the dealers a few months ago, can't remember exactly how much but they had to order them and the arrived in a few days. 16 + 4 for the locking nuts.

The locking ones are a different shape inside to account for the fact that it's round, not hex. It's no surprise they don't fit well if you try to jam a normal one onto a locker.
I personally find them pretty pointless and a PIA for the chew on of removing them if you need to get yer wheels off. Does a wheel nut really look that bad from ten foot?

If you have a early mk5 r32 they came with zolder alloys and have black caps on the wheel bolts

I'm with you on this. It's the first car I've had with these, all they seem to do is slow down changing wheels.

My old set have turned white and I’m missing a couple that have come off the locking wheel nut as that’s a different shape!
They do spoil the look of the wheels when discoloured
