Title: Unlocking the car
Post by: jaylufc17 on October 29, 2018, 05:34:44 pm
Own a MK5 GTI... last few days intermittently when I press the unlock button once on my key fob it makes a noise but doesn’t actually open and I have to enter my key into the turn and turn.

Locking afterwards is fine, but even trying to unlock again makes a noise but doesn’t actually unlock.

Any one experienced this issue?

I think it may be your door lock, if it is then you’ll need to remove the door skin to replace the lock

Door lock, had the same issue on my old mk5 1.9 TDI. Replace it now while the door unlocks because if the door lock fails on you and the door is locked, it will be very costly.

Door lock module failed.  Ive replaced both mine over the last 2 years.  Ebay bargains around £30ea
No issues since replaced. tps/vw prices will be ££££££.  Nice easy diy :happy2:

See post ' Bolt dropped behind doorskin'......Pudding posted a really good video on how to remove door skin and replace lock. Seems it's really important to replace the door skin bolts back in the correct order / sequence as some of them are different sizes. Good luck.

Thanks guys... spoke to my mechanic he’s recommended me to use the genuine door lock module, awaiting for his quote meanwhile.

Currently unlocking my door with the key just incase
