Hi chaps,
not had my ED30 very long, so haven't really had time to drive it very much, but is anyone managing to heel and toe in the mkv gti?
I thought it was going to be quite easy with the floor hinged throttle pedal, but the brake pedal is very high, so I can't just roll my foot over and blip the throttle.
I know its not strictly necessary, but I find it makes braking and changing down nice and smooth.
-
I don't have an issue doing it, however I can only do it properly with one particular pair of Puma shoes....!
Not as easy as in a BMW...they have their pedal set up just about right IMO!
-
I probably need to practice a bit more.
I've had a couple of beemers in the past, and found them to be spot on.
It required quite a bit of practice in my mk2 elise (no brake servo), to ensure I had enough braking pressure, but once I'd got the technique it was fine, so I think just more practice.
-
^ Interesting! I'm a S1 Elise owner too, very easy in that as the pedals are so close, but you're right it does take a while to get used to the lack of brake servo!

as far as im aware you cant heel and toe these cars. Press your foot on the accelerator and brake both at the same time and see what happens :happy2:
-
i do it all the time now.....especially out on track and with the Sachs clutch being alot grabbier than OEM i find it's much happier changing into the lower gear if i raise the revs with heel/toe technique.

The car disables the throttle if the brake is pressed with it for safety reasons. Not sure how that affects heel and toeing.

Thats only the case if the brake is depressed after the throttle.. Just to avoid someone dragging the brakes without noticing..
-
I find the MK5 a very easy car to heel and toe in, thanks for the throttle pedal design.
It's very shoe dependent though..... :happy2:

Lovely job, cheers all. I'll dig out my old puma speedcats and give it a go.
