Title: Pro Race 1.3's
Post by: Aparoon on February 14, 2010, 08:31:39 pm
I want these wheels, but from what I can see they only do 18's in 8.5inch wide... My tyres are 225/40/18 so they arent going to be suitable, will they do them in 8inch or is it a case of if its not listed they wont do them? I am going to ring them tomorrow but I'm just after some info from anyone whos had experience of them  :happy2:

Also, has anyone seen any pics of these in the silver finish fitted to a golf, I cant find any?

Thanks

Over to JonnyC|  :happy2: If you give them a ring they may well be in a position to make a set of 18*8's up for you as they will do custom sizes.

They only have castings for 18x8.5, they can do custom PCD and ET from 25 to 55 as far as I remember.. You can run a 225 on a 8.5 no worries, and I wouldn't consider that a stretch at all..

Brilliant wheel

VWR do the 1.2 without the writing in the rim - so almost the same as a 1.3 and in the size you want, helpful?

A 225 doesn't look in the least bit stretched on my 8's - I can't see an extra 1/2 inch making much difference.  :happy2:

I'll look forward to seeing these.

Go for the 1.2's if you want the weight saving. 8x18's are 9kg - 8.5x18 in 1.3's are 11kg.

Go for the 1.3's if you want the looks....or wider tyres like JonnyC

Ok going for the pro race 1.2's, I do prefer the look of the 1.3 but I don't need 8.5s and didnt realise the weight... gone for a silver finish without the logo, 18x8 et 45, should hopefully still look good  :happy2:

Just got to wait now, they recon 14days to make them

Didnt get mine on scales but I would be really surprised if they were 11kg, they felt basically the same as the 1.2's I took off the car.. I was quoted 9.8kg for that wheel..

Should have weighted them :ashamed:

I think they are 11kg with et15, so probably slightly less with et50  :rolleye: If it works like that, less wheel I suppose...

Aye, an ET15 will have a big lump of more metal on the back.

I'm getting the wheels from vwr btw, they are the only place that supply without the writing on the lip so good call  :happy2:

VWR want 566 for the 1.2s... is that a good price?

I'd say that was spot on, especially if you're getting them blanked (i.e. no lettering)
